Turning Point in history
This event in history is the most obvious evidence of the racist and segregated society of the South in the 1930's. It is the biggest miscarriage of justice to have ever taken place in U.S history.
Although the Scottsboro boys were tried of rape, this case is not about rape but about the extreme struggle of blacks under the whites. This event is about the prejudice of the white Southerners and their unrighteous behavior of assuming superiority over blacks. White Americans mistreated black Americans for the simple reason of the color of their skin.
"If a white person says you did something, you did it. Color is more important than evidence...Color is evidence.
Black color convicts you."
- Hawyood Patterson, one of the Scottsboro Boys
This case held in the small town of Scottsboro, Alabama was spreading its news all over the United States and in other countries also. Even newspapers in the South questioned why the trials continued for years. Protests were held in many cities to support the Scottsboro boys.
